About the e-commerce jobs market
Post the pandemic boom, the e-commerce sector is showing signs of stabilisation. Whilst funding is down 80% from 2021 peaks, the size of the market continues to grow and is forecasted to be worth nearly $8 trillion by 2027.
Compensation reflects this transition from hypergrowth to cautious scaling. e-commerce companies are offering 5.3% annual salary increases that broadly align with the market average but, at 24.5%, hiring rates sit below the 29.4% rates seen across tech. This signals selective expansion, with the sector not hiring aggressively but maintaining salary increases in order to manage retention.
However, a 24.1% attrition rate significantly exceeds the 18.1% tech average, creating urgent retention pressure as companies compete for specialised skills.
Companies like Just Eat Takeaway, Skyscanner, Scout24, Tiqets, and Bloom&Wild use Ravio to navigate this high-attrition market where retention-focused compensation strategies are essential to avoid costly replacement cycles.
